September Energy Forum, Sept 2008 CTA Letter
Dear Representative:
Today’s energy problems have become the number one issue for America’s consumers and businessmen. We can no longer afford the rising cost of energy, and we are relying on leaders like you to take action and find solutions to help ease skyrocketing energy prices.
Consumer Energy Alliance, a non-profit organization bringing together consumers, businesses, manufacturers, agriculture, retirees, transportation and energy providers, is hosting an “Energy Forum” to help inform Americans about the impacts on the U.S. economy associated with high energy prices. Every member of the House of Representatives is invited to join the Host Committee and to speak at the event if available. The Energy Forum takes place on Monday, September 15, 2008, in the Cannon Caucus Room from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. As my Representative, your presence at the event is important, but if you are unable to attend, I ask that you lend your name to the event by joining as a Host Committee member.
In conjunction with the release of its National Consumer Impact Publication, “The Impact of High Energy Prices on Various Consumer Sectors of the U.S. Economy,” CEA’s Energy Forum is bringing together the broad CEA membership with members of Congress to share perspectives on energy prices and offer solutions to improve U.S. Energy Policy.
The event will feature remarks by members of Congress, a discussion of CEA’s Consumer Impact Publication, a discussion of energy policy with representatives from the Obama and McCain Presidential Campaigns and remarks from energy providers on meeting America’s energy challenge. The following organizations will have experts available to present materials and information to members and staff:
60 Plus Association; Agriculture Energy Alliance; Air Transport Association; American Association of Petroleum Geologists; American Chemistry Council; American Exploration & Production Council; American Gas Association; American Highway Users Alliance; American Iron & Steel Institute; American Petroleum Institute; American Public Gas Association; American Trucking Associations; Americans for American Energy; Association of Corporate Travel Executives; The Center for North American Energy Security; Environmentally Conscious Consumers for Oil Shale; Grocery Manufacturers Association; Independent Petroleum Association of America; National Association of Manufacturers; National Association of Neighborhoods; National Ocean Industries Association; National Petrochemical and Refiners Association; National Restaurant Association*; National Small Business Association; Nuclear Energy Institute; Regional Airline Association*; Southeast Energy Alliance; U.S. Chamber of Commerce*; U.S. Oil & Gas Association. *Invited
Again, I urge you to join your fellow Representatives as a Host Committee member for the CEA Energy Forum.
