About SEA

Our Mission
Recognizing the unique and overlapping priorities and challenges facing the economies of the Southeastern states the Southeast Energy Alliance (SEA) Mission is the development and implementation of sound energy policies that will ensure sustainable, reliable and affordable energy for families, farms and businesses across the region.
In order to achieve our Mission, we have adopted the following policy priorities that will direct Alliance activities:
- Ensure affordable and reliable supply of transportation fuels, electricity and natural gas for the families, manufacturing and agricultural base of the southeastern states;
- Increase the viability of rural energy production such as ethanol, biodiesel, and agriculturally-based electricity production in the southeastern states; and
- Promote sustainable policies that will promote energy efficiency and conservation measure benefitting businesses and families in the southeast.
Our Goal
The goal of SEA is to motivate and provide a voice for consumers in the Southeast interested in vital public issues, such as responsible access to available natural resources; power generation; impact of energy prices on business, agriculture and consumers; development of a robust, domestic renewable energy industry; and utilization of new technologies that allow for higher levels of energy efficiency and conservation.
Our Implementation
Southeast Energy Alliance provides sound, unbiased information on U.S. and global energy issues for consumers and supporters in the Southeast via:
- Comprehensive consumer energy website
- SEA Energy Events and participation in CEA events, such as Energy Day and Energy Forum, bringing together consumers, end-users, businesses and energy providers with elected officials to discuss and shape U.S. energy policy
- Energy Issue E-mail Alerts
Our Reputation
SEA has already developed a solid reputation through our successful efforts to build support for balanced energy policy by:
- Contributing to debate on energy-related legislation and working to halt initiatives counter to domestic energy production
- Forming an offshore energy coalition to address important policy initiatives and to help expand responsible access to Oil and Gas resources
- Initiating dialogue among consumers and industry in the Southeast and Washington through increased communications campaigns
- Helping to create a coalition for energy workforce initiative
