There is a growing public concern that the earth’s climate is warming as a result of CO2 produced from human activities and there are a large number of initiatives underway designed to reduce CO2 emissions that will greatly curtail fossil fuel use – which currently provides more than 80 percent of the world’s energy.

The Southeast Energy Alliance believes that it is imperative that any new regime to reduce carbon emissions does not result in significant increases in gasoline, diesel, natural gas or electricity prices.
In order to achieve substantial reductions in CO2 emissions – without hammering the economy or raising energy prices – SEA supports policies to expand nuclear power, increase access to clean-burning natural gas, increase renewable electricity production, increase fuel economy in the transportation sector, and advance technologies to capture and sequestration of carbon from coal-burning coal plants.
