Washington, D.C. Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) President David Hold issued the following statement today thanking President Trump for his leadership and working to nominate two highly-qualified individuals to fill the vacancies on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), to meet quorum.

“FERC plays a key role in evaluating and approving critical energy infrastructure projects. The lack of a quorum has limited the Commission’s ability to act on these projects. We are extremely pleased to see President Trump recently nominate two highly-qualified individuals to fill the vacancies on the Commission and urge the Senate to move quickly in holding hearings to evaluate these nominees and move them toward what we hope will be a swift confirmation process.

“Ensuring that the FERC has the necessary leadership and staff to conduct the work of the commission is of vital importance to all Americans. As a recent CEA report, titled Families, Communities, and Finances: The Consequences of Denying Critical Pipeline Infrastructure,” shows, failing to permit pipelines will result in the loss of almost one-third of electricity capacity by 2030. This will have a significant detrimental impact on families and business across the nation – especially those of us living at or below the poverty line.”

CEA recently sent a letter to Senator Murkowski requesting the Senate to move quickly in holding hearings to evaluate FERC nominees.
