CEA Welcomes New Member: National Association of Home Builders

HOUSTON — October 29, 2010   Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) is pleased to welcome a new affiliate member, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), a trade association that helps promote the policies that make housing a national priority. NAHB promotes sound green building and environmental policy issues, works toward improving the housing finance system, and analyzes and forecasts economic and consumer trends.

“The National Association of Home Builders members, who are involved in all aspects of a diversified building industry, create jobs for millions of people and contribute significantly to the economic activity of their community and the nation,” said CEA President David Holt. “These goals, along with its commitment to develop energy-efficient and cost-effective energy codes and standards, directly align with the mission of Consumer Energy Alliance. We welcome this partnership with NAHB and look forward to promoting the economic welfare of American consumers.”

The National Association of Home Builders is a Washington-based trade association representing more than 175,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing and other aspects of residential and light commercial construction. NAHB is affiliated with 800 state and local home builders associations around the country. NAHB’s builder members will construct about 80 percent of the new housing units projected for 2010.

“NAHB works to improve housing affordability, availability, and choice,” said NAHB Chairman Bob Jones, a builder in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.   “Our vision is to recognize both housing and housing providers as a key component in the economic security of America and to create an environment where every American has the opportunity for a safe, decent, and affordable home in a suitable living environment provided by an entrepreneurial and competitive industry.”
