Consumer Energy Alliance Welcomes New Member Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce

HOUSTON Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) is pleased to welcome a new affiliate member, the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), a business association dedicated to promoting business, economic opportunity, and commerce in the state of Wisconsin.

WMC has nearly 4,000 members that include both large and small manufacturers, service companies, local chambers of commerce and specialized trade associations. With the goal of promoting a healthy business climate since 1911, WMC is a merger of the Wisconsin Manufacturers Association, the State Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Council of Safety.

By working together with the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, CEA and our regional chapters can help bring stable energy prices to the state of Wisconsin, and nationwide,” said CEA President David Holt. “Energy impacts everyone – manufacturers, small businesses and consumers, to name a few.  With more than 4,000 members and a mission to promote job growth and economic vitality, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and CEA are perfect fit.  We look forward to working closely together to educate & inform on key energy issues that are important to Wisconsin’s economic future.”

WMC is the largest representative of Wisconsin businesses and it will celebrate 100 years of aggressive pro-business advocacy in 2011.  Last legislative session, WMC led the fight to successfully defeat a Wisconsin-only “Global Warming” bill which included a low carbon fuel standard and other costly state energy mandates.  The partnership between WMC and CEA marks a strategic affiliation for consumers, manufacturers, and those who support state and national economic growth.

“WMC looks forward to working closely with the CEA to help ensure Wisconsin businesses and consumers have access to affordable, reliable energy,” said WMC President James S. Haney.
