COLUMBUS, OHConsumer Energy Alliance (CEA) Midwest Executive Director Chris Ventura today applauded the actions of the Marshall County Commissioners after they passed a resolution in support of access to affordable and reliable energy for constituents across the county. The commission also called upon the West Virginia state legislature, to support increased exploration and production of the county’s top resources, including oil and natural gas. Following this news, Ventura released the following statement:

“CEA has long-advocated for policies that not only assist low-income individuals and families to ensure they have access to affordable energy but also for small and large businesses that need affordable energy to meet their bottom lines and compete on a world stage. We’re always happy to see policymakers that take a thoughtful approach to energy development and look at not only the environmental impacts but the long-term opportunities for their citizens.

“West Virginia has a great abundance of energy resources at its disposal and should be taking into account how to best utilize those resources to increase private investment that will help generate revenue for local and state budgets, improve essential services in communities, and increase opportunities for jobs and local economic development.

“The resolution passed by the Marshall County Commissioners shows their willingness to move forward with thoughtful ideas that help create solutions for everyone across the county.”
