WASHINGTONConsumer Energy Alliance (CEA), the leading energy and environmental advocate for families and businesses, today applauded the Congressional passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, which will strengthen American energy security and unleash affordable, reliable and cleaner energy for families, farmers and small businesses.

The expansive legislation advances major Administration and Congressional energy priorities in a comprehensive manner, and follows four years of efforts to restrict, impede or otherwise hamper the development of domestic energy resources.

“This legislation unleashes affordable, reliable and cleaner energy for families and small businesses across the country, and gives the U.S. the edge in the global AI race by ensuring that always-on, reliable baseload power like nuclear and natural gas can be developed at speed and scale,” Consumer Energy Alliance President David Holt said.

“Critically, this bill ensures offshore lease sales for Gulf of America and Alaska, which were intentionally delayed and drowned in red tape under the Biden Administration. That kept money out of the U.S. Treasury and Gulf States, and impeded the ability for companies to appropriately plan future energy development,” Holt said.

The bill includes provisions to accelerate environmental reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act for companies willing to pay expedited review fees. This will streamline a permitting process that has long delayed critical energy infrastructure projects and presented far too many opportunities for anti-energy groups to tie projects up in litigation, increasing the ultimate cost Americans pay for energy.

“With a bill this large, it’s hard to get everything right or please everyone. We appreciate Congressional Leadership’s thoughtful, hard work on the legislation,” Holt said. “CEA looks forward to working with the Administration and Congress to keep pursuing thoughtful, balanced energy policies that ensure energy diversity and options without mandates or draconian restrictions.”

The bill also includes provisions to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, to hold onshore lease sales and expands support for advanced nuclear power by broadening the definition of qualifying projects, recognizing nuclear power’s critical role in providing reliable baseload electricity needed for data centers and AI infrastructure.

“This comprehensive approach to American energy development will benefit families, consumers, and strengthen our economic competitiveness globally,” Holt said. “These energy security provisions represent a significant step forward in ensuring America remains the world’s energy superpower while providing the reliable electricity our growing economy and the AI revolution demands.”

The legislation now heads to President Trump’s desk for his signature.

“CEA looks forward to the President’s signature on this bold, practical and ambitious bill,” Holt said.
