  • All three nominees bring substantial experience in energy, environment

WASHINGTONConsumer Energy Alliance (CEA), the leading energy and environmental advocate for families and businesses, today urged the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Environment and Public Works Committee to expeditiously approve the nominations Lee Zeldin as Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Doug Burgum as Secretary of the Interior, and Chris Wright as Secretary of Energy.

“These nominees bring proven leadership experience and deep understanding of the critical balance between environmental stewardship and energy affordability,” CEA President David Holt said. “Their backgrounds show they understand that American families and businesses need reliable, affordable energy alongside smart environmental stewardship.”

Each nominee brings unique strengths to their proposed roles which, taken together, encompass environmental benefits, carbon capture and storage, liquefied natural gas, onshore and offshore leasing and production and more in America’s wide spectrum of energy opportunities.

“In an era of rising household costs, these nominees understand the intrinsic and inescapable connection between abundant, affordable, reliable energy and a healthy economy for families and businesses,” Holt said. “Moreover, their collective experience is proof that American energy leadership can and must continue to co-exist with ever-advancing environmental progress, twin priorities that are best carried out through innovation rather than restriction. Their leadership in these critical roles will benefit the U.S.”

Zeldin, nominated to lead EPA, has demonstrated his commitment to environmental stewardship through his work supporting Long Island Sound and championing coastal protection. His experience working across party lines to deliver environmental victories while supporting local economies makes him well-qualified to lead the agency.

Burgum, the Interior Secretary nominee, brings both private sector innovation and public sector leadership as North Dakota’s former governor. His track record includes launching the state’s Department of Environmental Quality while supporting responsible energy development, demonstrating his ability to balance conservation with America’s energy needs.

Wright, nominated as Energy Secretary, brings deep technical expertise from MIT and UC Berkeley alongside real-world experience developing energy technologies. His background in both traditional and innovative energy sectors positions him well to advance solutions like carbon capture while ensuring reliable energy supplies.
