David Holt, President

David Holt has served as President of Consumer Energy Alliance since January 2006.

As President of Consumer Energy Alliance, David focuses on expanding the dialogue between the energy sector and the rest of the economy.  With almost 400 corporate members and 550,000-plus individual members representing families, farmers, small businesses, distributors, labor organizations, manufacturers, and energy providers, CEA has become the voice of the energy consumer.

CEA is a leader in helping to shape broad consensus in support of sensible, pro-environment, pro-economic growth energy policies utilizing an “all of the above” approach.  CEA maintains regional and state chapters in 20 states nationwide, as well as an active presence in the Capitol, meeting regularly with the Administration, Congress, Governors, and local elected officials on issues that impact energy consumers.  As of January 2023, CEA has 14 active energy policy campaigns in 22 states, ranging from oil and gas to solar and wind to mining to carbon capture.

David regularly authors op-eds and appears in national media outlets. He is a frequent speaker at national energy forums, has testified before Congress, and is regularly sought out by policymakers and business leaders.

David is the founding Board Member of the Consumer Energy Education Foundation, a charitable organization that promotes K-12 STEM and energy education and its ability to grow and foster positive student experiences.  He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Anne Catholic Foundation (2010-2016), where he served as president; he also served as chair of the St. Anne Church Capital Campaign that raised more than $20 million for the St. Anne community (2017-2022).

Since 2008, David has also served as Managing Partner of HBW Resources, a strategic planning, communications, and government affairs consultancy focused exclusively on energy, transportation, and environmental issues. He is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association.

David and his wife reside in Houston, Texas, and have three amazing kids.
