LITTLE ROCK, AK – Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA), the leading energy and environmental advocate for families and small businesses, today commended Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders for signing into law Senate Bill 307, the Generating Arkansas Jobs Act of 2025.
The legislation modernizes the state’s regulatory framework for energy infrastructure projects, ensuring Arkansas can swiftly capitalize on economic development opportunities while maintaining strong consumer protections under the watch of the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
“The Generating Arkansas Jobs Act is forward-thinking legislation that ensures Arkansas can compete for these investments while maintaining the strong regulatory oversight that protects consumers,” CEA Southeast Executive Director Kevin Doyle said. “Without these sensible updates to the regulatory process, Arkansas residents stood to miss out on billions in economic development and project cost savings. Gov. Sanders and the legislature deserve praise for ensuring these opportunities are there for families, farmers and small businesses in Arkansas.”
Key benefits of the Generating Arkansas Jobs Act include:
- Potentially reducing project review timeframes to six months in certain circumstances, allowing critical infrastructure to come online faster and the state to seize economic development opportunities.
- Enabling incremental cost recovery to allow utilities to complete new projects under the Act’s Construction Work in Progress provisions, which can significantly reduce financing expenses that would otherwise be passed on to consumers
- Maintaining the Arkansas Public Service Commission’s authority to ensure all costs are just, reasonable, and in the public interest
The legislation comes at a critical time as the United States experiences unprecedented electricity load demand growth because of AI and data center needs, itself an enormous economic growth opportunity, alongside others in technology, manufacturing, metals production, aerospace, and defense.
