- Commonwealth’s energy, manufacturing, workforce attract over $90B investments
- Summit showcases how U.S. needs to plan to deliver affordable, reliable power in face of massive demand growth
PITTSBURGH – Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA), the leading energy and environmental advocate for families and businesses, applauded the more than $90 billion investments in data centers and AI announced at the Pennsylvania Energy & Innovation Summit hosted by Sen. Dave McCormick, a first-of-its-kind gathering recognizing that American success in the AI race is integrally linked to affordable, reliable energy.
President Trump and Sen. McCormick gathered with CEOs from energy, investment and tech companies to announce planned investments into the Keystone State, which will be record-breaking if all come to fruition.
“Pennsylvania’s unique advantages from our energy resources to our skilled workforce and leading academic institutions make these historic commitments possible,” CEA Mid-Atlantic Director Mike Butler said. “As the nation’s second-largest natural gas producer and a longstanding leader in nuclear power, the Commonwealth offers the abundant, reliable and affordable baseload energy that data centers and AI operations require around the clock.”
“More importantly, this summit recognizes that energy is essential for American leadership in the AI race. Energy security is national security and economic security,” Butler said. “Pennsylvania has a long history of helping build and power America, from the first oil discovery, to our coal mines and the steel mills that helped us win wars and build skyscrapers. These investments in the next chapter serve as a model for planning with affordable, reliable and cleaner energy correctly viewed as essential to success for not just companies, but families and small businesses.”
Data centers supporting AI applications demand enormous amounts of consistent electricity – with some facilities requiring as much power as entire cities. Pennsylvania’s diverse energy portfolio, including its substantial natural gas resources and nuclear facilities, positions the state to meet this exponential growth in electricity demand while maintaining the affordability and reliability that families and small businesses depend on daily.
