Affordable, reliable, and clean energy for American families begins in… America. Offshore leasing in the Gulf of America provides responsible oil and natural gas that powers our nation’s economy, environment, and family wellbeing. The Administration’s Five-Year Leasing Program is the catalyst for fueling America without sacrificing cost, quality, reliability, and security from foreign nations.
America has a major advantage when it comes to advancing in the energy sector compared to our foreign adversaries. With the Gulf of America, we have an estimated 69 million barrels of oil and 229 trillion cubic feet of natural gas – the energy we use to heat our homes, fill our gas tanks, and power our local businesses.
To put it into perspective, 69 billion barrels of oil can power about 3.5 days of total U.S. energy demand – that includes flights, cars on the road, and other products made from petroleum.
These aren’t hypothetical scenarios – they’re proven, affordable, and an essential resource to keeping our country running.
The Administration’s leasing program doesn’t just power our lights and heaters, it also directly supports American families by creating jobs and lowering prices. In 2023, the offshore oil and natural gas industry helped create around 412,000 jobs in the U.S., and is projected to contribute an average of over $29.6 billion of GDP per year throughout the 2023 to 2040 forecast period.
With continued support of the Administration’s efforts to keep energy in America, YOU can be a part of making a difference in every American family’s lives.
Let’s break down the benefits of American offshore energy.
A consistent leasing plan keeps prices stable.
The Administration’s Five-Year Offshore Leasing Program would create consistent leasing schedules, allowing energy companies enough time to invest, plan, and hire for their projects. When leasing sales get canceled or delayed, gas and electricity bills increase, and jobs decrease, hurting American families. This plan offers energy producers stability to lease the offshore properties, creating the energy every American needs – so families won’t have to choose between keeping the lights on or paying for meals, small businesses can stay open, and farmers can fuel their equipment.
American energy strengthens security.
Supporting the Five-Year Leasing Program means supporting our nation’s security. Believe it or not, but American-made energy gives us a major strategic advantage over foreign countries. By producing energy in the U.S., we shield ourselves from dependence on foreign energy, and thus global instability. American-made energy sets us up for success on all fronts – it’s cleaner, safer, economically resilient, and far from countries that do not share our environmental or labor values.
Offshore energy gives back.
The oil and natural gas industry in the Gulf of America is projected an average of just over $29.6 billion of GDP per year over the 2023 to 2040 forecast period.
A portion of these offshore revenues are given back to, coastal restoration programs, and conservation funds across the Gulf coast and the entire country. The Land and Water Conservation Fund, for example, receives roughly $900 million a year from offshore revenues. The new proposed 5 Year Plan will not only powering American homes and businesses, but also gives back to the community that serves them.
You don’t need to be an expert to make an impact.
Policy and politics can be confusing, but these are the decisions that make a difference in your everyday costs, local jobs, and reliability. Keeping offshore access open and having a stable leasing schedule means affordable, clean, and American-made energy that keeps families like yours from having to think about heating your home or driving to work. Without this plan, there would be uncertainty, higher prices, and more dependence on foreign energy. The choice is clear.
Support for this plan means support for your country and the people and businesses around you.
Together, we can advocate for a stronger America.
