- Wind Generation Permit and Property Protection Act
In 2019, Representative Randy Garber introduced HB 2273 which would change state law to ensure wind turbines were at least 1.5 miles from any residential property or public building and 3 miles from any airport, local, state or federal wildlife refuge, public hunting area or public park. This legislation died in committee.
Kansas has more than tripled its wind energy production since 2008.
In 2019, wind energy provided 41% of Kansas’s in-state electricity generation.
