- Wind Turbine Decommissioning
The bipartisan Senate Memorial 66 requests that the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department study how the state may best require assurances for the decommissioning of wind turbines and the restoration of lands used for wind turbine and wind farm siting.
Currently, nine active leases for wind projects exist on State Trust land, with a total capacity of 345 megawatts.
The New Mexico Wind Energy Center was one of the world’s largest wind farms when it went online October 1, 2003.
