According to the National Center for Education Statistics, there is a rising consensus that our nation’s future economic competitiveness depends upon strengthening our students’ skills in STEM. Unfortunately, American students rank just 27th in math and 20th in science, the National Math and Science Initiative says. We can do better – and we know it.

Consumer Energy Alliance’s Energy and Manufacturing Forum

CEA recently hosted the Pennsylvania Energy and Manufacturing Forum to provide a unique opportunity for federal, state and local officials to discuss current energy issues and the importance of responsible energy development in the context of jobs, the economy and U.S. competitiveness.

At PEIA member Consumer Energy Alliance’s (CEA) first Energy and Manufacturing Forum this week, featured speakers discussed the need for expanded energy infrastructure and urged for Pennsylvania’s leadership to have a neutral discussion on the state’s energy future. The forum featured U.S. Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey as speakers, as well as Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. During the roundtable discussion, they each spoke separately about their ideas for the future of America’s energy economy.

CEA’s Michael Whatley was featured in the Observer-Reporter following the Pennsylvania Energy and Manufacturing Forum.

Pennsylvania’s Democratic and Republic U.S. senators were asked Tuesday to look beyond the upcoming presidential election and consider how various energy issues could be dealt with in Washington in 2017. The questions, which centered on tax reform, pipelines and regulatory issues, were posed by Michael Whatley, executive vice president of Consumer Energy Alliance, during separate interviews with Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican Sen. Pat Toomey.

Since its inception in 2011, Energy Day, the largest free festival of its kind, has helped spark Houston-area students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the classroom skills industry needs to continue its record-breaking energy revolution and provide the affordable, reliable energy it has supplied to millions of American families, farms, factories and small businesses in recent years.

Families from all over turned out at the Energy Day Festival at Sam Houston Park on Saturday, Oct. 15, to learn about energy, conduct experiments and have a beautiful day in the sun.

U.S. West Coast LNG Exports Problematic Amid Shifting Supply-Demand, Say Experts

The long stalled – and final – proposed U.S. West Coast liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project was little more than an afterthought at a regional gas conference in Denver on Tuesday, where a panel of experts gave their views on the shifting supply-demand balance, which is bolstered by more takeaway capacity to Mexico and via newly opened terminals on the Gulf Coast.

Court Refuses to Block Dakota Access As Pipeline Protests Expand

CEA’s Brydon Ross was interviewed regarding the extralegal actions taken by the Obama administration for infrastructure permitting.

“We remain concerned that what’s happened with the administration is that it’s created a brand new process for review that doesn’t really seem to have an end,” said Brydon Ross with the Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA). “It’s not on any regulatory statute that I know of. The project’s in limbo based on the whims of activist groups.”

Concerns Raised Over Dakota Access Pipeline “Riots”

CEA President David Holt was quoted after anti-energy extremists deliberately attempted to shut down critical energy infrastructure, placing first responders, families, and the environment at risk.

“The steps taken by these individuals to sabotage pipelines – in addition to the threats, intimidation, and cyber-bullying tactics they are using – clearly show that their agenda has nothing to do with protecting the environment and everything to do with shutting down the American economy and hurting everyday Americans, families, small business, and our economic way of life,” CEA President David Holt said in a statement.
