- Wind Generation Permit and Property Protection Act
In 2019, Representative Randy Garber introduced HB 2273 which would change state law to ensure wind turbines were at least 1.5 miles from any residential property or public building and 3 miles from any airport, local, state or federal wildlife refuge, public hunting area or public park. This legislation died in committee.
Massachusetts has been leading an effort with the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to establish leasing areas for offshore wind.
The New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal is designed to support the construction, assembly, and deployment of offshore wind.
