COLUMBUS, OH —Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) Midwest Executive Director, Chris Ventura announced today that the groups Energy Consumer Protection Pledge has been signed by more than 38 Ohio elected officials and candidates. CEA’s pledge is an opportunity for candidates to sign and show their support for an all-of-the-above energy policy that protects the environment while also taking into consideration the benefits energy provides to Ohio households and small businesses. CEA believes that sound, bi-partisan energy policy helps all families, especially those living at or below the poverty line, with access to affordable and reliable energy.

“Ohio consumers have a right to know how their candidates feel about energy issues and their commitment to sensible energy and environmental solutions,” said Chris Ventura, Executive Director of CEA-Midwest. “That’s why we are pleased that Ohio candidates, from both parties, have signed the pledge, sending a clear message to those whom they intend to represent just where they stand on energy issues. We hope that other candidates across the state will join us in recognizing the need for policies that address all-of-the-above solutions to help make energy affordable for everyone.”

“The Energy Consumer Protection Pledge lays out logical yet important points about committing to sensible energy policies,” Ventura added. “Do you believe the environment should be protected and preserved as part of energy production and development? Should responsible energy solutions be supported instead of just saying no? How can we meet our energy needs to help lower prices, create jobs and protect our environment? These are critical questions that should drive thoughtful, civil discussions on energy in the coming months. Ohio consumers on both sides of the political aisle deserve good answers on these issues.”

Through this non-partisan initiative, CEA will help consumers identify those elected officials and candidates – regardless of party affiliation — who recognize that affordable energy costs and the environment are vital to communities across the nation. CEA’s Energy Consumer Protection Pledge and Campaign for America’s Energy movement target the forgotten voices in the energy discussion – American families and businesses who deserve responsible energy solutions and sensible energy prices.
